Sports Turf Company takes home multiple awards in the Alabama AGC BuildSouth Awards for the second year in a row.
Sports Turf Company receives first place in the General Contractor’s category for The University of South Alabama’s Indoor Facility. While, The University of Alabama Birmingham’s Recreation Complex took home first in its specific General Contractor’s category. Projects were judged on multiple criteria including, meeting the challenge of a difficult job, excellence in project management, innovation in construction techniques, state-of-the-art advancements and contractor's contribution of the community.
The University of South Alabama’s Indoor 96,000 sq. ft. facility was completed in July 2018. The field features AstroTurf’s 3D3 artificial turf system, a performance synthetic turf system that combines slit film and monofilament 
fibers for optimum durability and visual appeal. It is highlighted by AstroTurf’s RootZone sub-layer, a texturized fiber that stabilizes infill and improves shock absorbency.
The University of Alabama Birmingam’s Recreation Facility was the renovation of a parking lot to two full size natural grass fields. The natural grass fields feature blended sand rootzones, with an underdrain system and irrigation. The fields will serve the university’s recreation department for all sports.
Sports Turf Company's vast experience in specialty athletic construction was essential in overcoming the challenges and 
building a successful athletic facility for both the University of South Alabama and University of Alabama Birmingham. Sports Turf Company used extensive planning and all Certified Field Builders on staff to complete both projects.
