Sports Turf Company Completes the Stadium Field and Track Renovation for Putnam County High School

Sports Turf Company, a specialty sports construction and surfacing company, is proud to announce it has completed the stadium field and track renovation for Putnam County High School in Eatonton, Ga. The project included the renovation of the War Eagles’ existing natural grass football stadium to artificial turf prior to the 2021-2022 school year and the renovation of the existing track to a Rekortan M polyurethane system prior to the 2023 track season.

Sports Turf Company renovated the War Eagles’ existing natural grass field to an artificial turf system focused on safety, enhanced performance, and improved footing. The artificial turf system features AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 turf system, Brock Power base YSR shock pad, and the organic infill, BrockFILL. AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 turf system is a performance artificial turf system that combines slit film and monofilament fibers with a RootZone layer of texturized fibers for optimum durability and better shock absorbency. The Brock Power Base shock pad and BrockFILL are specifically engineered to optimize safety for athletes during impacts to the surface. BrockFILL is the latest in alternative infills and is sustainably grown and harvested in Georgia.

In addition, the War Eagles existing track was renovated to a Rekortan M polyurethane system. The impermeable track surface was installed by first paving the basement layer of the sandwich-style system. The base layer consisting of SBR rubber granules bound in polyurethane was topped with a seal coat, fluid polyurethane topcoat and a broadcast of EPDM rubber granules. The two-component paved sandwich-style track system can endure higher traffic, along with providing enhanced force reduction throughout its lifetime, making it a top surface for elite athletes.
