Sports Turf Company Awarded Facility Renovations at Cairo High School
Sports Turf Company, a leading specialty sports construction and surfacing firm, is proud to announce it has been awarded the renovation of three athletic facilities at Cairo High School in Cairo, Georgia. The undertaking marks the second project Sports Turf Company has been entrusted to complete for the Syrupmakers, following the renovation of the school’s stadium field in 2021.
Across the three facilities, Sports Turf Company will renovate the softball field, the baseball field, and the running track and practice field. The softball field and the baseball field will each be converted to artificial turf, while the running track will be renovated and resurfaced with the Rekortan M Fast Track system. In addition, the practice field inside the running track will be converted to artificial turf, giving the Syrupmakers three new artificial turf playing surfaces alongside a high-performance competition running track.
Each artificial turf field included in the project will be renovated with a turf system engineered to ensure player safety, maximize durability, and deliver a high-quality athletic surface for years to come. The softball field and the baseball field will each feature AstroTurf’s Diamond Series 3DK system, a baseball and softball specific turf system engineered for safety, cooling, and performance that combines slit film and nylon monofilament fibers with a RootZone layer of texturized fibers for optimum durability and improved shock absorbency. The practice field inside the running track will feature AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 Blend turf system, which combines slit film and monofilament fibers with a RootZone layer of texturized fibers for the same durability and shock absorbency. All three surfaces will be paired with a Brock Powerbase YSR shock pad and BrockFILL infill. The Brock Powerbase YSR shock pad is specifically engineered to optimize athlete safety during impacts to the surface, while BrockFILL, an alternative wood infill, reduces field surface temperatures and delivers a natural feel with increased traction and footing for athletes.
For the running track, the Rekortan M Fast Track system will provide a high-performance running surface built for speed and longevity. Rekortan’s renowned polyurethane track systems are recognized worldwide for their high-energy return, durability, and performance, making them a trusted surface for athletes at every level.
