Sports Turf Company, a sports facility construction and specialty surfacing company, is excited to announce that it has been awarded projects at two high schools in Clarke County. The renovations at both high schools will be completed prior to the 2020-2021 school year.

The two projects in Clarke County include:

  • Clarke Central High School – renovation of the field and existing track
  • Cedar Shoals High School – renovation of the existing track

“We are very excited to be helping Clarke County Schools improve their facilities for the upcoming season.  It is always a treat to be able to use the latest technology in facility renovation.“ said Todd Wiggins, President of Sports Turf Company.

Sports Turf Company will renovate the existing natural grass field to an artificial turf field at Clarke Central High School. Once completed the new field will feature AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 HD Blend turf system, Brock SP17 shock pad, and BrockFILL. AstroTurf’s RootZone 3D3 HD Blend is a performance artificial turf system that combines slit film and monofilament fibers for optimum durability. The Brock SP17 shock pad technology is specifically engineered to optimize safety for athletes during impacts to the surface. BrockFILL is the latest in alternative infills and is sustainably grown and harvested here in Georgia. The unique properties of the wood infill, BrockFILL, decreases field temperatures and gives the feel of a more natural surface with increased traction and footing for athletes.

Sports Turf Company will renovate the existing track and expand the running surface to 8-lanes to accommodate track meets at Clarke Central High School. Sports Turf will mill the existing asphalt, expand the track with new asphalt and install a Rekortan G-13 Track Surface.

At Cedar Shoals High School, Sports Turf Company will complete a full track renovation. The renovation will include the milling of the existing asphalt, regrading, installation of new asphalt, and the addition of new track events. The completed surface will be a Rekortan G-13 track surface that will endure higher wear and traffic along with providing enhanced force reduction.

“We are getting state of the art products from a leader in the industry, Sports Turf Company in terms of surfaces. We are excited to provide safer, more durable athletic facilities for our student athletes.” Said John Gilbreath, Director of Facility Planning and Construction.

Sports Turf continues to raise the bar for performance, safety, playability and durability of artificial turf fields and tracks in the Southeast, thanks to its innovative technology solutions.
